Installation & Care

For a stable and attractive stepping-stone pathway, consider the following installation recommendations:

1. Prepare the base: Create a 50–75mm compacted base using suitable road base or crusher dust.
2. Add bedding sand: Allow approximately 20–30mm of bedding sand to assist with levelling and support.
3. Plan the layout: Arrange the stones before installation to create a comfortable and visually balanced pathway.
4. Set suitable spacing: A guide of approximately 450–650mm centre-to-centre can help establish a natural walking rhythm. Adjust the spacing to suit the stone sizes and intended users.
5. Allow for drainage: Maintain a slight fall where appropriate to help water drain away from the pathway.
6. Prepare surrounding aggregate areas: Weed mat beneath adjacent gravel or pebble areas can help reduce weed growth and maintenance.
7. Clean periodically: Rinse the stones to remove dust, dirt and garden debris.
8. Consider sealing: A suitable penetrating stone sealer may be useful in high-traffic areas. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and test a small area first.

Ensure each stepper is fully supported and installed on a suitable base for the site conditions and intended use.
